Lunchtime Noonday Service @ the Cathedral . . . cannot wait until we can visit together again

By Ron Dowling from Christ Church in Springfield

I visited the Christ Church Cathedral Noon lunchtime service on Friday, February 7, 2020. I had been to a few previous, and if memory serves me correctly, this was the last visit that I was able to make before the Covid19 distancing procedures went into effect. I am really looking forward to the day when we can assemble together again. This service was extremely special and soul-inspiring.

Theresa (my wife) and I joined the Cathedral Choir (and others) to sing in the Boar’s Head Festival this year (our third). The pagentry and music were inspiring and evoked praise from many in the audience. What a great way to celebrate the Nativity! And good to see our friends from the Cathedral who we had toured with last spring.

Visited Christ Cathedral’s Music Live @ Lunch on 1/7/2020. Michael Chertock played. He was SPECTACULAR !! Standing room only in the chapel and I can see why. Wow, what a wonderful lunchtime ministry to those working in the area.

I was headed to Cinci for a doctor’s appointment and decided to stop by the cathedral for the noon Eucharist with Fr. Paul Williams presiding. I followed up with a lovely tour of the cathedral and lunch with Bill Scrivener.

Wonderful celebratory service. Music was wonderful, especially the brass ensemble. I had a chance to visit with Drew Abbott to learn about some ministries of the Cathedral. I was most impressed with the ministry of a parishioner, funded by the vestry, to pay overdue electric bills for people in the community needing assistance. We also talked about ways the Cathedral might reach out to “far-flung” parishes.
